History of Science, Medicine and Technology Research Group

Based in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, this group brings together researchers across several SHAPE disciplines who share an interest in the history of medicine, science and technology from antiquity to the present.

Historical Approaches to Science Technology and Medicine

This cluster within the Science Technology and Innovation studies department combine humanistic theories with qualitative and quantitative methods from across the social sciences to investigate the histories of the human, social and natural sciences, technology, and medicine.

Centre for applied developmental psychology

Research includes a number of cross-cutting themes around mental health and health, specific mental health issues (e.g. eating disorders and disruptive behaviour) and specific risk and resilience factors (e.g. trauma, neuropsychological factors, and relationships with people and animals). The centre also engage in psychological and psychoeducational intervention to promote child and adolescents mental health.

Edinburgh Centre for Research on the Experience of Dementia

The aim of the Edinburgh Centre for Research on the Experience of Dementia (ECRED) is to create international social research and impact that prioritises the experience of dementia and strengthens global understanding of living with dementia.

Scottish Centre for Administrative Data Research

The centre analyse administrative data from across Scotland and the UK, focused on key themes including lifelong health and wellbeing; community safety equality and wellbeing; health and social care and work, wellfare and housing. SCADR is involved in various technological innovation projects which aim to enhance the quality and accessiblity of administrative data for researchers.
